UAEU - Investing in knowledge for the Nation's future
United Arab Emirates University continues to be the country’s flagship national institution of higher education and is committed to its role as the leading teaching and research institution in the UAE. UAEU was founded by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1976 to respond to the needs of society and to keep pace with international academic developments and trends. For nearly two decades it was the only university in the UAE, supporting national policies and strategies. UAEU offers over 70 different undergraduate Bachelor degrees and a wide range of graduate and post-graduate programmes including the internationally-accredited Doctorate in Business Administration.
Today UAEU is playing another vital role in the continued growth of Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Research is now at the core of university life. UAEU has provided research of direct relevance to key government policy areas. These include water and petroleum resources, solar, wind and bio-fuel sources of energy, the causes and spread of global health pandemics and prevalent regional medical conditions.
UAEU is ranked as the number 1 Research University in the GCC; number 2 in the Arab World; 9th in the Muslim World and 372 globally. UAEU’s partnerships with institutions and scholars around the world bring an additional level of excellence to the university’s research output.
The Leadership of the United Arab Emirates has set out its vision for the Nation to structure growth over the coming years; accordingly, UAEU’s research strategy is specifically aligned with the economic and social development of the Nation.
